Model overview

Model description

The year 1990 brought us the Corvette ZR-1, and 1991 brought many of that car’s exterior updates to the rest of the Chevrolet C4 Corvette lineup. The new front end featured parking lights that wrapped around the front corner and a new vent design was implemented behind the front wheels.

The “belt” line that wrapped around the car was now body color, and the concave rear end and circular taillights of the 1990 model were replaced with the convex rear end and rectangular taillights form the ZR-1. The wheels for the Base model Vette were changed to the new “saw blade” design.

The Z51 performance package and FX3 adjustable ride control were combined to create RPO code Z07, with suspension settings that varied between “stiff” and “very stiff.” With hard driving in mind, an oil pan float was also added to alert the driver of any low oil scenarios.

The ’91 Chevrolet Corvette also boasted some creature comforts, like an accessory power wire for items like cell phones (in 1991!) and a power delay feature, which allowed for operation of the radio and power windows for a short time after turning off the engine.

1991 also marks the last year of the B2K Callaway Twin Turbo Corvette option. Owners could send their Corvettes off to Callaway Engineering to be turned into real monsters, with as much as 450 horsepower in later models.

With just over 20,000 units sold, 1991 was one of the lowest-selling years for the C4 Chevy Corvette. Just 63 Callaway Corvettes and 733 Z07 Corvettes were sold in 1991, making them among the rarest versions of this vintage and cars that can command a significant premium in value.
