Model overview

Model description

1993 marked the 40th anniversary of the Chevrolet Corvette. GM celebrated this milestone with a “40th Anniversary” package for the car, featuring a Ruby Red Metallic paint job and Ruby Red interior. It also featured the “40th Anniversary” badge on the hood, rear deck, front fenders and embroidered into the headrest.

For the Corvette ZR-1, Chevy did some work on the LT-5 V8 engine, including new four-bolt main bearing caps, platinum-tipped spark plugs, and porting adjustments for the valvetrain and heads. A new electronic EGR valve improved emissions. All these changes resulted in a significant 30 horsepower bump, bringing the total up to 405hp.

For the rest of the lineup, the engine was actually made quieter through a series of changes, and 1993 would also be the first year you could get the Corvette with a proximity key fob. Quite common on cars today, this would unlock the car when you got near it with the fob.

21,590 Corvettes were built for the 1993 model year. The 40th Anniversary package was available on all models, and was selected 6,749 times. Rare colors for this year are Black Rose Metallic (935 ordered), Quasar Blue Metallic (683 ordered), Competition Yellow (517 ordered), and Dark Red Metallic (325 ordered). Just 488 coupes were selected both the 40th Anniversary package and the ZR-1 package, meaning they command among the highest prices for this vintage.

Many factors can increase a car's value including excellent condition, exceptional originality, a recent restoration, low mileage, unique provenance, desirable options, popular or unique color choices, and excellent maintenance records. Upgrades and modifications that enhance performance or aesthetics can also add value.

Factors that can decrease a car's value include unusually high mileage, poor maintenance history, visible wear and tear, accidents or damage, title issues, and gaps in ownership history. Additionally, less popular color choices and extensive modifications that don't appeal to a broad audience can reduce value.

Mileage plays a significant role in a classic car’s value. Lower mileage usually increases value because it indicates a higher degree of originality, is rarer, and suggests less wear and tear. However, cars with exceptionally low mileage may also have maintenance needs due to lack of use. Whether someone should pay more for a vehicle with lower miles will depend on how they plan on using it, and the vehicle's specific condition.

The value of modified cars differs widely based on the type and quality of modifications. While some modifications can significantly increase value, especially performance enhancements and high-quality custom work, others may not add much or could even detract from the car’s value if they appeal to only a limited audience.
