Model overview
Model description
The 2008 Dodge Charger is a modern interpretation of a daily-drivable muscle car with menacing, somewhat-abstract styling, and the functionality of four doors. It debuted in 2006, and for 2008 received some minor updates to the door trim, instrument panel, and center console.
The lineup for the ’08 Charger included the SE, SXT, R/T, R/T Daytona, and SRT-8. While the SE and SXT are V-6 cars, the R/T features a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 with cylinder deactivation technology to conserve fuel. This engine makes 340 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. The R/T Daytona has the same V-8, but with power upped to 350 hp. The Daytona also features more pronounced aerodynamic body work, and unique striping, which got an update for 2008.
The SRT-8 features the largest engine in the lineup, a 6.1-liter Hemi V-8. It cranks out 425 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. The SRT-8 also added Brembo performance brakes, a pronounced rear spoiler, and updated carbon fiber interior accents.
All engines send power to the rear wheels, although the SXT and R/T were available with all-wheel drive. All V-8 Chargers came a 5-speed automatic. Options for 2008 included a seat-back entertainment system, GPS navigation, and iPod interface for the stereo.
