Select the Oldsmobile 4-4-2 model year you want to research current market prices for
Oldsmobile’s entry into the muscle car wars and answer to the Pontiac GTO, the 4-4-2 (aka 442) started out as an option package on the 1964 F-85 and Cutlass. The name denoted its 4-barrel carburetor, 4-speed transmission, and dual (2) exhausts. The first generation lasted from 1964-67 and started out with a 330-cubi-inch V-8 but moved to a 400-cid unit for 1965. For 1968, 4-4-2 became its own separate model series. This second generation 1968-72 saw the 4-4-2’s best years for styling and performance, and today collectors seek out cars equipped with desirable options like the W30 or Hurst/Olds packages. By 1972, though, the muscle car market was in decline and the 4-4-2 name reverted to an appearance/handling package on the Cutlass. The new “colonnade” styling debuted for the 1973 Cutlass and Cutlass 4-4-2. The Cutlass was downsized for 1978, while the 4-4-2 package disappeared from 1981-84 before being revived on the fifth generation G-body Cutlass Supreme in 1985. The 4-4-2 was discontinued again by 1991, this time for good.
